Some roads lead straight into weather. Storm Gate is a study of anticipation, endurance, and the immense scale of the American landscape. Photographed on the Colorado prairie, the image follows a long frozen road as it disappears toward a gathering storm. Winter grasses line the roadway and icy puddles reflect the sky, creating a visual path that draws the eye toward the dark horizon and the approaching weather beyond.
Presented in monochrome, the photograph emphasizes form, texture, and atmosphere rather than color.
